Working closely with the company’s Managing Director Paul Morewood, and with valuable design vision input from warehouse operatives, Mowbray Sales Director (Northern Region) Mark Davison devised a solution for the new facility in Sheffield.
A Very Narrow Aisle racking system, easily accessible by articulated forklift truck, accommodates more than 2,200 Euro pallets, increasing the company’s pallet storage capacity by 273%.
Timber decks provide the client with the flexibility to store non-standard pallets from overseas suppliers.
Dedicated tiered small parts storage, comprising 1,000 parts bins, was incorporated into the design to enable individual items to be picked quickly and efficiently.
A key element of Mowbray Interior’s remit for the main picking and packing area within the 30,000 sq ft facility, 400% larger than the company’s existing warehousing, included provision to ensure the wellbeing of warehouse staff.
In addition to installing energy-efficient High Bay LED lighting, providing excellent luminance for safety and navigation, industrial infrared heaters were installed at optimum positions relative to operatives’ work stations.
Rack post protection and end of aisle barriers were fitted throughout the site.
Mowbray supplied and fitted two electric vehicle charging points, a CCTV and monitored alarm system and retractable security bollards at the facility’s front entrance.
